Where can I find information that teaches me "how to" make and store natural products, also I would like to make my own bubble bars to give as gifts but I see that SLS is in all of the recipes I have found. Is there an alternative to SLS that will still create the bubbles.

Thanks

Chris from Winnipeg

Re: About Labcolors

The biggest problem I run into with the dyes has to be that the color leeches out. At craft shows over the summer, most of my beautiful soaps had to get tossed after loosing their color in the elements. Some where lab colors, others where standard dyes picked up at local craft shop. I have since switched to mica's. I have not put my products in those conditions since to further test. Any advice?

Re: Recipe – Baby’s Bum Balm & Kiddie’s Sun-Stop

I'm wondering the same :) I want to make my own and add different ingredients. I've never heard of Cupuacu Butter. Can I use shea butter instead? I've seen other recipes that use Shea Butter. And tea tree oil as a preservative? In another recipe I found it has sweet almond oil and Calendula Absolute what does the calendula do in the recipe? And would the sweet almond oil replace the rice bran oil in this recipe? Here is the recipe, but I want to add the Zinc oxide:

16 oz Sweet Almond Oil
8 oz Shea Butter
8 oz Jojoba Oil
4.5 oz Virgin Coconut Oil
4.5 oz Beeswax
2 Drops Calendula Absolute

Re: Natural Hair Care – A Half-Day Workshop!!!

Hi Sylvia, I am going to sign up for the next one. Just spoke to Kimberly about the company and she walked me through the website etc... She was extremely helpful and really knew her stuff!

I was just wondering if with the conditioner bases sold here, you can add btms for more 'slip' and smoothness.

Re: About Non-Kosher Fragrance Oils And Raw Materials

True musk is a secretion that is very close to the anal glands of the musk deer. Not kosher at all, and though FOs are proprietary blends of aroma chemicals that are almost always petroleum-based, perhaps there is a possibility of true musk being in the blend.

Emu is rendered fat of a great big bird that is smaller and shyer than an ostrich, who make delightful drum sounds as they loll around. I use it in several of my person products, and it is lovely in exfoliating foot cream. It is also lethal to typhus, should you ever need to know that!

Re: How To Make A Glycerine-Based Tincture

We have instructions for downloading, on making a tincture with botanical extracts

Re: About Chemical Sensitivities

Personally, I use and recommend Oat Oil, and if an enhancing oil is desired, that should be Evening Primrose Oil. I also thought cinnamon essential oil was a dermal irritant as well as being not suitable for those pregnant. Can you clarify? Thanks, Karen

Re: Raw Materials: Botanical Extracts

I too am wondering the same thing, or maybe glycerin.
